Nestling in the rolling hills of Somerset, The Newt is a living, breathing expression of the land. A vibrant working estate, with extensive gardens, ancient woodlands, orchards and a Georgian core – it’s a place where history and heritage go hand in hand with innovation. The rhythm of the seasons here guides everything they do. From orchard to cellar, the story of their cyder is deeply entwined with the soil beneath their feet and the hands that tend it.
Their Cyders embody the artistry of traditional cider making, reimagined through a lens of refinement. Each is a rare expression-shaped by season, varietal, and method, echoing the depth and nuance more often found in the world of fine wines. Drawing on centuries of orchard wisdom and a deep respect for the humble apple, these cyders are crafted to stir the senses and intrigue the palate, inviting a slower kind of enjoyment.
The world-famous Yarlington Mill apple was first discovered in the late 1800s, growing wild in Yarlington village, just a stone's throw from The Newt. They have a great affection for this local apple variety, so much so that they've planted a swathe of Yarlington trees in their new orchards, securing a supply of this special bittersweet apple long into the future.
